We’re working hard to to make our website as accessible as possible. We are currently working on creating videos in Makaton and British Sign Language.

We are the Coventry Youth Activists - CYA!

CYA are a youth led disability campaign group. We believe in young disabled people having a voice, breaking down barriers and ending online discrimination

In 2022 we were the winners of the Sheila McKechnie Foundation’s “David and Goliath Award” for our campaign #FaceBookHasNoStandards.

We are actively working with Meta and OFCOM to make sure online spaces are safer places for young disabled people.

We are regularly invited to talk to organisations and other youth groups about our work.

Recently we collaborated with Warwick Uni to create a brief for a digital engagement module on their MA course in Community Engagement and Belonging.

Last year we created an Ally Pack to raise awareness of online disability hate and ableism.

We believe there should be a good mix of working on the campaign and looking after ourselves. We regularly plan CYA social nights so we can get out and have some fun with each other too!

Our ethos is to use creativity and kindness!

Our Ally Pack

We created this resource to give you tools and tips so that you can play an active role in reporting online hate speech towards disabled people. Signing up to our Ally Pack also gives you the option to sign up to our monthly newsletter.

Our Campaigns

#FacebookHasNoStandards is our campaign to make Facebook take disability hate on their platform seriously. Facebook is failing to protect disabled people from online hate and discrimination.
