Making It Work for Us: Coventry Youth Activists’ Accessibility Rider
At Coventry Youth Activists (CYA), we believe that inclusion isn’t just about saying “everyone’s welcome” It’s about making sure the conditions are right so we can show up fully, feel safe, and take part with confidence.
Too often, young disabled people are expected to join meetings, events, and campaigns that aren’t built with our access needs in mind. That needs to change. So we created our own Accessibility Rider, a simple guide to help organisers, collaborators, and hosts understand what we need to be involved on our terms.
We’re sharing it here because we want everyone working with young disabled people to have these conversations, take action, and get it right.
Let’s make this the norm, not the exception.
We want our rider to be shared, used, adapted, and added to by other disabled people, allies, campaigners, and organisations who care about doing better.
Will you help make accessibility non-negotiable in your events, meetings, and campaigns?
